Why Work With Me and What I Deliver

I love what I do and I get results. I am passionate about supporting families and their children from preschool through university age and beyond in special education matters, school discipline matters, gifted education, accommodations, discrimination, bullying, and equal access to education. I am determined to achieve effective results for children and families. From the moment a family reaches out to me, I listen carefully to your story. I empower you and provide the tools you need to support your child. It’s important to me that you fully understand your rights. If your situation warrants further action, the law is a powerful tool and I will work with you and strategize with you to use the law in the strongest and most effective way for your situation.

I bring to my practice twenty years of legal experience, which includes due process hearings, state court, and federal court practice. My work includes a groundbreaking case against the MCIU in which a hearing officer and federal judge ordered the MCIU to reimburse parents of a preschool child with Autism for tuition at a typical preschool because he needed to attend a typical preschool to learn critical socialization skills. This case set a precedent in Pennsylvania so that all preschool children with disabilities that require attendance at typical preschools are entitled to tuition reimbursement. I have obtained numerous successful results for families seeking tuition reimbursement for private school when the public school cannot meet their needs. These cases include students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, genetic disorders, behavior challenges, anxiety, medical challenges, and more. I have obtained successful outcomes for students unlawfully disciplined, students facing discrimination and bullying, students with inappropriate IEPs and 504 Plans, and more. I represent families in school districts throughout the Philadelphia suburbs, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to successful dispute resolution and, if necessary, to a due process hearing and appeal.

My three children in college, high school, and middle school enhance my understanding of the challenges of navigating parenting and working with school districts and universities. Graduating Order of the Coif (top ten percent) from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and working with a federal judge have also provided me with crucial legal knowledge, skills, expertise, and strategies that I regularly employ in advocating on behalf of my clients.
